A Craft Older Than
Grasse, France.

The deg-bhapka method has distilled the soul of flowers in Kannauj since the 7th century — predating European perfumery by a thousand years.

01

The Harvest

Flowers collected at 4am, when essential oil concentration peaks. Rose petals must reach the deg within two hours or the heart note changes.

02

The Deg

Copper stills — unchanged in design since the Mughal era — are loaded with botanicals and sealed with clay. Only cow-dung fires provide the slow, even heat required.

03

The Bhapka

Aromatic steam travels through bamboo pipes into condenser pots submerged in river water. The fragrance infuses into pure sandalwood oil, drop by drop.

04

The Aging

Sealed in copper vessels for 18 to 36 months. Time is the final ingredient — the one that cannot be rushed or replicated.

Dehn Al Oud — aged 36 months

"
I have worn Creed, Amouage, and Clive Christian. None of them do what a single drop of this oud does at hour seven, when the sandalwood base fully opens. This is not a perfume. This is a conversation with a forest.

Ruh Khus — 24-month copper aged

"
I have been sourcing attars from Kannauj for fifteen years. What this marketplace curates is different — every batch is documented, every origin verified. The Ruh Khus they carry is the real Bijnor harvest, not the Rajasthan substitute most sellers pass off.

Ruh Gulab — Royal Reserve

"
My mother wore rose attar on her wedding day. I wanted the same — not a rose perfume, the actual ruh. On my mehndi night I applied three drops to my wrists and my husband could still smell it the next morning. That is not chemistry. That is something older.
